Garden Plaques
Originally used in ancient Greece, garden plaques are typically a uniquely designed marble or other highly colored garden centerpiece. Originally inspired in Greek gardens, these vibrant shapes and designs have been used for thousands of years to help add life outside of plants.
Marble was a popular stone that was used to help decorate and manipulate the architecture and landscapes of gardens and homes. Using intimate drawings of Gods and natures, often sketched into the marble itself. Most of the examples left today in Modern Greece have lost their original vibrant colors and styles because of their age. It's common knowledge today that Greeks enjoyed painting and using many colors on the stones. The decorative garden can be directly attributed to the Greeks.
Most of the modern garden statues and designs can be directly attributed to these ancient designs, as most directly resemble similar designs or are also made from marble and other expensive stones. Until recently the styles used subtle and less vibrant colors to not distract the viewer from the garden. Although we have begun to see new trends in which exquisite colors have begun to be used in garden plaques. Now there have been a meshing of designs, shapes, colors and usage.
These recent designs have shown off the colors and designs that have seemed to be lost forever. Moving away from our unpainted stones and moving towards a new color palate typically not associated with gardens. Garden plaques come in just about any shape or style imaginable, from hanging garden holders to stepping stones. Most of the garden plaques still follow the common style motifs of animals, nature pictures, and even ancient Gods and Godesses. There are even some that are greatly diverse then from what we expect, such as cartoon images and childrens stories. Garden plaques have even moved indoors as well, meshing the wall hanging style with the indoor decor. This is often described as the cottage style decor, as you can use outdoor garden decor inside your home.
Decorative garden plaques can even be used in common paving stones or stepping stones. Imagine using unique, colored, stones for steps to your garden pond or up from the local lake. Quality stones are no longer needed simply as plaques or wall art, you can now use those older run down plaques as stepping stones. This adds another layer of design over the general and more common paving stones that are used in gardens.
Garden plaques give off the ambiance and style that you've always wanted in your garden. These simple additions can literally transform your garden setup, providing a new variety of detail never offered before. Look for quality garden plaques when you go shopping, don't buy cheap knock offs that were produced cheaply as you'll only be cheating yourself.
